Revitalize Bremerton

Remove Red Light Cameras

The red light camera systems in Bremerton issue about 10,000 tickets per year. The company that owns the camera systems is based in Arizona. These systems have drained millions of dollars out of the Bremerton economy. Let’s stop them now!

Incentivize Community Service & Volunteerism

Our Volunteer Workforce is being underutilized. Using Community Service Programs, we can fix many of our City’s problems without raising any taxes. These programs can also help people in poverty by offering them tax credits and exemptions.

Encourage Entrepreneurs

Small businesses are key to revitalizing an economy. John wants to waive the first year of B&O taxes for new businesses so they can reinvest in their companies, and increase the probability of their success.

About Me

Candidate Statement:

I spent over a decade serving my country in austere and hostile environments all over the world; and it was an honor to do so.  I now seek to continue my service on a more local level, so that I can be here in Bremerton with my friends and family.

I oppose red light cameras, and I would like them removed from Bremerton.  The Arizona based company, Redflex Traffic Systems has taken millions of dollars from Bremerton residents.  I don’t like that our city is leaking so much revenue when we need it for our own residents and infrastructure.

To revitalize Bremerton, I would encourage more volunteerism and community service, this will be less expensive and more rewarding than relying on a bureaucracy to solve all of the problems.  I will work hard to expand the available tax deductions for residents who volunteer their time at our schools.

I will also push to waive the B&O tax for the first year after a new business opens, this will help entrepreneurs reinvest in their company and increase their probability for long-term success.
